Timelapse, Hyperlapse, and Slideshows

I've lived in Anchorage, Alaska, since 1995, and am in love with the place. Great people, unbelievable terrain and wildlife, clean air and water, and plenty of things to explore. This is a chronological slideshow of photos I shot between November, 2015 and February, 2017. Accompanied by some beautiful music from my friend, Melissa Fischer.

A little time-lapse photography...

This was shot on a Moonlit night (01-23-16) beginning at about 3am. It was shot with a Nikon D7100 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. (equivalent to 75mm on this camera) Shots were taken every 3 seconds for 30 minutes, then played back here at 24 frames per second. Shooting in RAW let me bring up the exposure for this scene, which was actually very dark , lit only by Moonlight.

This is a time-lapse movie of a beautiful sunset here in Anchorage, on 09/16/16. (1 shot every 3 seconds for 30 minutes, played back at 24 frames per second)

This is a time-lapse movie of sunrise here in Anchorage, on 10/07/16, from two different locations

Several brief time-lapse movies of the aurora over Anchorage, on 10/16/16. (typically 1 shot every 3 seconds, then played back at 12 frames per second)

A little spring fun with hyperlapse in the back yard...

"Arctic Thunder" - July 30th, 2016 Open house/Airshow at JBER

This is a fantastic event that happens every two years at JBER, here in Anchorage, Alaska. We get to see a great static display, various tactical demos, civilian aerobatic pilots from around the world, a great F-22 "Raptor" demo, and a featured aerobatic team, which was the Blue Angels, this year. The two slide shows below are both high-res. Enjoy!

Brief (2 minute) gallery of my favorite photos from Arctic Thunder 2016.

Detailed (12 minute) gallery of my favorite photos from Arctic Thunder 2016.

The detailed (12 minute) slide show includes my favorite shots from the static display, some photos of the crowd, the F-22 "Raptor" static display, flight demo, and Heritage flight. My best shots from the Blue Angels show are the finale.

This event is always a good opportunity to try a ton of things, photographically. I used all my lenses, and shot everything from the crowds, to static displays, to high-speed aerial displays, and had a blast with all of it. (All photos in these two slide shows were shot with the Nikon D7100.)

Arctic Thunder 2018!

This airshow occurs every two years these days, so there will be one this summer. (June 30th - July 1st, 2018) There will be a huge number of static displays, as always, and although all the performers aren't set yet, we know that the USAF Thunderbirds are the featured act, and that F-22 Raptor demo and Heritage Flight will happen again, which is always worth photographing.
